Description: A fascinating piece from East Africa, this drum was made and played by the Kamba people in the region of modern day Kenya. Age is unknown, this could date from the 19th century to mid 20th century. A zebra skin has been stretched over a hollowed wooden tree trunk being lashed together with a twisted vine and has 2 hide handles. Also a strap for putting over the shoulder. It's 48cm in height, of a large size. It's well worn, clearly seeing use of the years. We are also selling a second one from the same collection, brought back directly from Kenya. A true representation of the history of the region. We recommend viewing all the photos before buying. We are also happy to answer any questions to help you make the right decision. Thank you for considering this piece from Taliesin Antiques. For our latest collections, please visit our website and follow us on social media.
