Description: Aero JB4 Type 1, 18.80mm C-C Bridge Flush Fender Mexican JB4 drop-in Replacement. This pickup fits a Fender Mexican JB4 (NOT the made in Mexico Standard JB4). The Fender Mexican JB4 has 2 pickups with identical string spacing (approximately 16.40mm C-C) and identical cover length, approximately 92mmL (NOT the 91mmL neck/94mmL bridge cover set of a Standard JB4). There are NO new covers for these pickups, so they have been manufactured with unexposed pole pieces, with a wider string spacing correct for the bass’s actual string spacing. The magnets are flush with the top bobbin so they don’t go through the incorrectly spaced magnet holes in the cover. The stock bobbin is held into the cover by a glue bead (along the bottom). The stock bobbin must be freed from the glue bead, and the glue sanded flat to allow the new Aero bobbin fit correctly. If you want to check your string spacing of your basses bridge pickup, measure from the center of the ‘E’ to the center of the ‘G’ over the centerline of the bridge pickup (measuring the strings and not the pickup pole pieces). Note: This auction is only for the bridge pickup, and NOT for a Neck/Bridge set. The neck pickup has a string spacing of 17.80mm C-C, and can be purchased separately from Aero. Since 1999, when Aero won a ‘Top Tone Award’ in Bass Player magazine, against all other major brands of the time, Aero JB4 Type 1 pickups have been considered, by professional musicians, to be the standard by which other JB pickups are judged. Hands-down they are the best pickup you will ever play.
