It is found in the mountains of Central and South Europe- once quite numerous and now relatively rare. This showy perennial forms erect dense clumps of dark green, kidney-shaped , toothed leaves to 15 cm long. In summer are appeared erect stems bearing dense fluffy corymbs of small, cylindrical rose lilac flowers. Adenostyles alpina will grow on many types of soil but prefers humus rich, moist to average and fertile.
