F. Dove, 1826 Description: Half Leather. Large 8vo.; in black straight-grained morocco over marbled boards, with decorations and titling in gilt to the spine; 933 pages, including an Appendix and the Index; there is a previous owner name on the endpaper that appears to be contemporary [it is a name from the "Swiss Bank Corporation" in London]; there is some minor chipping to the marbled paper over the boards; this edition is complete in one volume, with an engraved frontispiece portrait of Adam Smith.~~First published in 1776. While this cannot be considered an early copy of Smith great work (he died in 1790), it is attractive.
