Description: A very rare rule made sometime between 1854 and 1857 by A. Stanley & Co. Warranted boxwood with arch joint and scales on outer edge. Tight fit retaining both pins. Marked “E” and “M”. Small repair and chip. A nice pre-Civil War rule.In 1857, A. Stanley & Co. merged with Hall & Knapp and formed The Stanley Rule & Level Company – the rest is history.
