Description: This book tells the story of an amazing southern artist, Walter Anderson, centered on his cabin on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I find this artist and story absolutely fascinating. This book is a rare version I believe (brown cloth permanent exterior) as I've never seen it before. I also believe it to be a First Edition although not stated as such in the book. From the inside front and back dust jackets: "Until his death in 1965, Walter Anderson's private hymn to his Lord was unknown. It was discovered by his family in the locked room of his cottage and is reproduced here for the first time. Reinterpreting Psalm 104, which characterizes the Lord as One "who coverest thyself with light as with a garment" - as Walter Anderson had covered the walls and ceiling of the room with light. As the sequence progresses from the light of early dawn to sunset and evening, the artist has his Gulf Coast familiars appear at their appropriate time: a possum seeking food beneath the stars, an alligator basking at noon, deer drinking at sundown, and rare and wonderful moths punctuating the night. The view from each of the three windows is incorporated into the scene so that the reality of nature is merged into the artist's vision...." There is a gorgeous fold out in the center of the book.
