Description: 800297TB25PORT3 "Lobipes Hyperboreus" ORIGINAL HAND COLORED LITHOGRAPH by England's foremost bird artist, John Gould. He is considered by some to be the English Audubon. It is in very good original condition. there is one 1" tear on the right hand side margin and the colors are slightly muted. PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS WHICH ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION. From "Birds of Great Britain" published in London between 1862 & 1873 (it took 11 years to complete the set) in which there were 367 hand colored lithographs each of a different bird species. There were 397 original subscribers who paid Gould in advance to own a copy of the complete work. A total of 500 copies were produced.
