The entire work, issued in sixteen sections, with sixteen separate color plates of great commanders in action and famous battle scenes from the painting of H.A. Ogden and other famous artists of military subjects.Copyright 1895 by Charles F. Numerous B&W photos by Mathew B. Brady and illustrations are found in each section.The hard cover folder is water stained and very worn, but intact. The blue pulp soft cover section covers vary in tint, one to another, from light to dark blue. Sections 2 and 3 also have significant moisture damage with chipped and torn pages often stuck together. Occasional signs of humidity can be seen elsewhere but not significantly. Some of the plates are loose and detached from their bindings.
