Description: Book is 7.75" x 5" x 1.25" with 432 pages plus a 10 page Index at the end of book. Without a title page I can only go by what someone else had printed in the beginning of the book as to the date of the book being1712. There are many old illustrations in the book, but I don't know the exact number that should be in the book. I did examine every page one time & tried to keep track of the page numbers, which seemed to be all there. Between pages 124 & 125 there is just a small sliver of what I assume was an illustration that had been removed. I also found the remains of what were obviously folding maps with portions removed. The City of Cusco, Peru map between pages 228 & 229 was mostly missing & I assume this was another folding map. The unique item of interest in this book is on Page 34, when Scotland's Robinson Crusoe, ALEXANDER SELKIRK was found alive living on an island alone where he had survived alone for 4 years & 4 months. His true story led to Defoe's writing of "Robinson Crusoe." "The Duke's boat went afhore, and found one Alexander Selkerk, who had formerly been Mafter of the Cinque Ports Galley, an Englifh Privateer in thofe parts;" On page 258 I learned that the fifth Inca, CapacTupanqui had been informed that Sodomy had been practised by some in his area, which led him to investigate and all found guilty were to be burnt alive. Plus their homes & even trees were to be rooted up and burnt so that no memory might remain of such Brutality & terrify others; and if that was not enough then whole towns should be destroyed along with those burnt. I'm sure this all made sense at the time, which was not much after the events in Salem, Mass. in 1692. And, in 2022 we have our modern day Inca - Putin.
