Description: About this shell:Cypraeidae Zoila Decipiens - Humpback/Deceptive CowryAuthor: Smith, 1880Common Name: Humpback/Deceptive CowrySize: 51.01 mmLocality: South of Broome, Western AustraliaOrigins: Traded with Phil Crandall - Oct 1977. Collected live by pearl divers at 65 feet - Jul 1977This a gorgeous, top quality - collector's specimen that has been in our family collection for nearly 50 years. This specimen has outstanding color, pattern, luster and shape. This is part of our late father’s large collection of seashells he obtained while stationed on Okinawa, Japan in 1974-1978. His interests in shells grew from more than the Indo-Pacific species when he engaged in trading his shells with some of the prominent collectors around the world. He was an avid scuba diver and seashell collector. The results of many deep dives led to the creation of a collection of some of the best shells Okinawa had to offer. Ted’s shells have been cared for and stored for the past 50 years. All are in excellent condition. My sister and I are listing shells after researching them for value, quality and uniqueness. We are not conchologists and are giving our opinion on the condition and quality of the shell when compared to other listings. Thanks for your interest in this shell. More of Ted's shells can be found at my sister's site (user id shells4you). .
