Description: Up for auction is this nice sterling silver seated figure. I first thought that it was either 'Neptune' or 'Poseidon' but thanks to another ebayer I have been told that it is of 'Moses' holding the ten commandments. The original was by Michelangelo and it is housed in the church of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome. The figure alone weighs 70g. I'm pretty sure it would be much heavier if solid silver, so I believe it is filled with plaster or other material as it is definitely not hollow. It is clearly marked '925' on the base and it is mounted on a round wooden base that is not original. The figure was loose on the base and I reglued it but it could easily be removed from the base and placed on something else. There is a metal pin protruding from the base about 1/2". Including the 3-3/4" dia. base it measures 5-1/2" tall. Actual figure measures 4-1/8" tall x 1-1/2" square at the base. It comes in excellent condition with no damage or repairs.
