Description: Warren lived in Orange, California. He made hand painted cachets for his personal collection. A lot of his designs appear to be similar to those of other cachet makers of the time. Warren’s first known cachets are a group of 10 different designs made for Scott 618-619. These were on monarch size covers as were other covers he did for his earlier cachets. Later, Warren switched to making his cachets on regular size envelopes. After his first cachets for the Summer Olympics, Warren usually made two different designs for each issue. The last known issue done by Warren is the 50-cent airmail stamp issued October 29, 1941. It is not known if Warren made cachets for every issue during the time he made cachets. A stamp dealer in San Diego, CA purchased Warren’s covers from his estate. Some of his covers may have gone to friends and relatives before the sale to the dealer. Also, the dealer sold some covers before the remainder of the collection was purchased by Eldon Mohler in the early 1980’s. All of the covers in this collection are the actual illustrated covers in the Planty Catalogs. All of the covers are scarce as Warren only made covers for his personal collection.
