The reigning monarch's image appeared on the obverse side of the coin and the Pillars of Hercules wrapped in ribbons on the reverse side. It is believed that the ribbons wrapped around the pillars were impetus for the eventual dollar sign. Inside of the pillars was a simplified shield containing the fleurs-de lis of Bourbon, the pomegranate of Granada and the traditional castles and lions. These coins were also made with the new screw press technique and therefore are not true 'cob' coins. CONDITION Please see the pictures carefully and judge the condition and the grades by yourself.
