Chuck Ripper drew all the designs and pictured the animals in their natural habitats. All geographic areas of the US were included including Alaska and Hawaii. This stamp features the Box Turtle, a member of the terrapene family that can live to be 100 years old. A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. These stamps have been designated as Scott Number 2326.
