Description: Offered for your consideration is . . .VINTAGE Baseball Hall of Fame artwork based card#49 - HONUS WAGNER, Pittsburgh Pirates & Louisville Colonels ~ 1977 Bob Parker postcard size baseball card from the 1977-81 BOB PARKER HALL OF FAME set ~ Series 1Our hobby was fortunate to count the late Robert L. "Bob" Parker (1915-1998) among the fraternity of collectors. Bob, who was a photographer and commercial artist, attended many Midwest sports collectors conventions and contributed a half dozen or so trading card sets based upon his artistry. It was our pleasure to meet and deal with Mr. Parker at a 1981 Columbus, Ohio show.This card is from his largest (100 cards) set which has been catalogued by collectors as series one of his three series BOB PARKER HALL OF FAME set. The card features a true-to-life player image and brief player cartoon career highlights re-cap, measures 3-3/8 by 5-1/2 inches and is printed in sepia on a thin tan card stock; its reverse is blank. The card is numbered (at varying locations from card to card) together with a copyright line, Bob Parker '77.Mr. Parker marketed directly to collectors via mail and at shows. Judging by the relative scarcity of Bob Parker cards - Hall of Fame (1977-81), Reds Alert Cincinnati Reds (1977), Second Best (1974), and More Baseball Cartoons (1976) - production numbers were likely in the hundreds, making this interesting Baseball Hall of Fame card among the scarcest HOF collectibles. Since we have just one example of this number to sell, this is the actual card the buyer will receive. It will make a fine addition to any serious collection.The Bob Parker Hall of Fame cards evoke memories of 1940's thru 1960's baseball artwork featured in THE SPORTING NEWS and other media.The scans show: Front, Back, Series One Check List, and 1983 Ted Williams convention photo.
