Its design was inspired by Lincoln’s 1955 Futura Concept car. Standard features on the Premiere included power seats, power windows, power steering, and power brakes. Seats were covered in leather, and dashboards and doors were padded for extra safety. Premiere’s exterior had futuristic details including partially covered rear wheels, a wraparound windshield, and peaked headlights. Long, tapering rear fenders hinted at tail fins, while a potent 300 hp V-8 engine kept Lincoln Premiere drivers ahead of many others. For 1957, tail fins were enlarged, and headlamps were stacked with regular lights on top and smaller, separately controlled lights beneath. Lincoln added a four-door hardtop to its Premiere line, available along with the original two-door convertible model, both seating six. Air conditioning, safety belts, and an electronic eye that automatically dimmed headlights were a few of the prestige options available.
