Description: Remaining in UNSTRUCK condition these four (4) matchbooks were an advertising method for SAV-ON GAS STATIONS with two locations shown inside (both in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles). I've lived in the "valley" all my life and do not recall this gasoline company--only the drug store chain of the same name which may have been affiliated. Based on the MCM architecture and the fact that they were giving .02 per gallon cash value STAMPS (you remember filling those books if you're old enough!) I'm sure the age estimate of 1950's or before is plausible. The little guy with the megaphone on the reverse informs customers that they sell 100+ octane, you could "charge it" with your credit card, and those "stamps" referred to were given out .02 cash value. All in "new" condition, they're a rare addition for any advertising matchbook collection. GOOD LUCK AND PLEASE CHECK OUT GOODEYE'S OTHER COOLBUYS! Be sure to add me to your favorites list!
