Description: These “Athena” tiles are from the "Distinguished Designer Series of Sculptured and Decorator Tile" designed in the 1950’s which featured unique designs by many of America's foremost modernist designers including George Nelson, Paul McCobb, Saul Bass among others. These Athena tiles offered are like new old stock and one of two designs for ceramic tiles with bas-relief patterns created by George Nelson: "Laurel Leaf," a single diagonal leaf motif with alternate raised and recessed areas and the "Athena," offered in this listing which is a convex version of basic half-round motif in creme with grey mottled pattern.
