Description: This is a 4 book lot of books by Stephen Jay Gould. This lot is a sampler of Gould's vast range of thinking and writing. Gould has been called the "finest science essayist of our time". Gould taught biology, geology, zoology, paleontology, and history of science at Harvard University. For many years he had an essay column for the magazine Natural History published by The Museum of Natural History New York. In addition to science, Gould had a wide range of interests including baseball and time and calendars. Gould was witty as well as erudite and supports his writings with historical and scientific facts. Many essays are illustrated with photos, graphs, etc., some more generously than others. Essays like short stories make great reading. You can dip in and out and conclude the thought of an essay in relatively short time. Great for bedtime reading. The books are Eight Little Piggies (1993 1st 1st), Bully For Brontosaurus (1991 Book Club Edition ?), An Urchin in the Storm ( 1987 1st 1st), and The Flamingo's smile (1985 1st 1st). The books are all hardcover with dust jacket. None are ex-library, clipped, or remaindered. None have a bookplate or other mark of ownership. The books have no tears, stains, or bumps. The books have some wrinkling on the spine tops and bottoms. Only Bully For Brontosaurus dust jacket has damage. The jacket spine bottom spine has a tear. The jackets have occasional spint top and/or bottom wrinkling. I am downsizing and am selling the bulk of my library. Non-smoking household.
