32nd Infantry Division White Back Patch WWII Vintage New Guinea Philippines

Description: The Patch: This Auction is for 1 WWII Vintage 32nd Infantry Division shoulder patch with a white back. This patch is in good condition. It has a nice white back. This patch does not glow under the UV light and is guaranteed to be authentic. The History: The 32nd Infantry Division was federalized on October 15th, 1940 from the Michigan and Wisconsin National Guards. It participated in the Louisiana Maneuvers before embarking for the South Pacific in April of 1942. It was the first U.S. Division to fight offensive action against the Japanese when it was sent to Port Moresby. They participated in driving the Japanese back the Kokoda Trail. The division next attacked Japanese forces near Buna on the western tip of Papua. The 32nd continued to fight the Japanese on New Guinea until August 31st, 1944. They were transported to Leyte in November and participated in attacks on the Yamashita Line. They continued fighting in the Philippines until the war ended on August 15th, 1945.
