Description: With an index card signed by Ray Bradbury laid in at title page of the first book, up for auction are four First Editions, three first printings, the first a Review Copy, and one second printing of: The Machineries of Joy (NY, Simon and Schuster, 1964) by Ray Bradbury, an early collection of twenty-one if his best short stories. Signed by Ray Bradbury on, with a publisher’s review slip, a stated First Printing and a review copy in structurally very good condition in a well intact binding with no damage to gutters or hinges but not as a tight as finer copy. Heel shows a very minor cant. Boards are nice with no bumps or tears BUT spine is somewhat soiled with a few large spots (see photo) – it’s predominant detractor. Interior contents are fine with no names, errant marks or foxing. In an archival cover, the dust jacket is price clipped bit otherwise on very good + condition with no chops or tears but some light soiling and rubbing to panels. The signed card and publisher’s review slip are in fine condition. I purchased the book and autographed card at a reputable book auction in the mid 1990’s. The Toynbee Convector (NY, Alfred A. Knopf, 1988) – a stated “second printing – July 1988” in very good condition in a square reasonably firm binding though not as tight as fine. Exterior boards are nice with no bumps and bright lettering. Bottom page ends have a few grayish rub marks; remaining page ends are clean. Interior contents are fine with no names or errant marks. In a brodart cover, the priced dust jacket is in near fine condition with minor rubbing. The Cat's Pajamas: Stories (NY, William Morrow, 2004) – with 1 in its print run and stated First Edition, a first printing in very good condition in a square reasonably firm binding; rear hinge tighter than front. Exterior is flawless with clean page ends. With pink end sheets, interior contents are fine with no names or errant marks. Sans brodart cover, the priced dust jacket is in near fine condition with no chips or tears but some light soiling and rubbing to rear panel. The opening bid for all three and the autographed card is $80.00 with a decent Buy it now. Buyer pays $8.00 boxed and padded media rate shipping in the USA. I do not ship directly overseas but will use Ebay’s service. Books are returnable in same condition for a full refund.
