Designated for use on Nimitz Class Aircraft Carriers, Knox Class Frigates, and Austin Class LPD-4. Braided packing is a rope like material which is cut into rings that wrap around the rod. Once installed, the compression force generated by tightening of the gland produces radial pressure. Labels say 29+ feet, but we measured one at 24'6" and weighed the rest.
