Description: From my collection: She has been displayed away from heat and sun and is in very good used condition after 125 years of age and play. I have three sizes of Bergmann mold 1916 and will be keeping only one. 23-inch antique bisque socket-head mold #1916 by C.M. Bergmann of Walthershausen, Germany, circa 1900. C.M. Bergmann made high-quality bisque doll heads and purchased bodies from A.M., A.B.G., and Simon Halbig. They were imported to the U.S. by distributor Louis Wolfe of NYC. Head marked: C.M.Bergmann, Waltershausen, Germany, 1916.G (G indicates the 23" size) Bisque head with blue glass sleep eyes with painted upper and lower lashes and multi-stroke eyebrows, blushed cheeks, open mouth with 4 teeth, terra cotta lip color, and a dimpled chin. Her pate is glued on; she has a replaced synthetic wig in size 12-13 in golden blonde with curled bangs. I do not find any flaws to report on the head. The 1916 mold is a sweet face. The two final photos are from page 304 of the book, 500 Years of German Dollmaking by Mary Krombholtz. They show a photo of another 1916 mold doll in the same 23" size. The last photo is the Bermann Doll Factory in Walthershausen. Body: Thirteen-piece ball-socket jointed body. The knee and elbow joints allow her to sit nicely in a chair and hold a book or a doll. The body is original, but has been repainted over the last century an unknown number of times. It is in very good condition for its age; here are the flaws to report. There is a significant crack on the right hand (please see photo). There is paint-wear and chipped paint where the leg-joints and arm-joints connect to the body. The stringing is loose, but she stands with a stand (I will include her stand) or will sit just fine. Clothing: Her replacement vintage clothing was sewn by a professional dressmaker in La Habra, CA, circa 1980. It includes a well-made pink satin sleeveless drop-waist dress that buttons in back, with a pink brocade jacket with lace trim at cuffs and a bow adornment in back. Her white drop-waist slip is self-lined and buttons in the back; white pantaloons (elastic is stretched out from age), ecru long socks and modern white satin tie shoes. Except for the elastic, there are no flaws to report. Note: The custom outfit was likely made for her, but it is slightly large in the shoulders; it is beneficial to use tiny safety pins to make it hold tighter at the shoulder. No returns please unless I have somehow misrepresented her in my description. Thank you.
