Description: 2012 Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric car that needs repair. Car will not go into ready mode and will NOT move under it's own power. 27K original miles. No accidents and all original paint. Car is in nice shape but needs someone with the correct equipment to diagnose and repair. When plugged into charger, a few clicks are heard and the battery fan runs for about a second and then the system shuts down. I purchased this car recently thinking it might be a fun little challenge. I was a professional mechanic years ago and currently spend my time restoring motorcycles and rebuilding an older motorhome. I thought this might be an opportunity to work and learn about some newer technology and, if I was able to repair it, maybe have a local errand car that I wouldn't have to buy gas for. It was completely dead, no dash lights when I got it. The first thing I did was to install a good auxiliary 12V battery. That got all the normal electrical items functioning but I could see that the high voltage warning light was on and it had codes set. This is where my dilemma started. My reader/scanner apparently won't communicate with EV cars and retrieve the codes. I know enough that you need the codes to steer you in the right direction as there are several components that could cause the problem. Guessing is not the smart approach. I already have enough projects on my plate to keep me busy and the hundreds of dollars it would cost to buy a new scanner, added to unknown additional repair costs, have led me to the decision to sell the car. The car is in really nice shape with low original miles. Includes a 220 volt charger. Perfect for a someone already involved in the EV repair world. I have a clear Indiana title for the car and it is titled in my name. Payment will be in cash when the car is picked up. Check my feedback. Thanks for looking. ADDED: I just noticed that Autocheck is showing that the car was involved in a front end collision. I never saw anything out of the ordinary with the car so I went out and took another look all around and under the front end. I can see no evidence of any damage ever being done. No cracked paint or straightened metal. No cracked plastic pieces either. Nothing under the hood looks like it has ever been disturbed. If the front bumper cover was ever replaced, repaired or repainted, my hats off to the painter because the paint looks fantastic and matches perfectly.
