Description: 2002 Fender Tom Delonge Signature stratocaster black over seafoam green in very clean condition with a new Fender gig bag.When I pulled the guard I discovered remnants of the seafoam green color in the cavities & green stickers showing it was previously seafoam green. I also found the green when I removed the strap buttons. I have read that in the past Fender had sprayed over sunburst strats & repainted them in other colors they needed in stock but not sure about this one's story. When or if the poly starts to wear, it will look cool with the green starting to show. The black finish is definitely a pro job, & why I never questioned it. Nice neck & dark board on this one. Plastic is still on the pickguard. Could use new strings. A small finish crack in lower neck pocket approx 1/4" that doesn't show up well in a pic. Lots of glare & reflections in the pics of a black finish when photographing inside & outside. I recently received this message from a fellow ebayer: Hey there, awesome TD! Just wanted to let you know it probably was repainted by Fender. I’ve had a few black TD’s also Surf Green they flipped to black. Even had a Hoppus bass that was Shell Pink flipped to Daphne Blue for some reason. My understanding is that it was usually due to one of a couple reasons. Either there was an issue/defect in the finish, and instead of stripping the guitar and starting over they could just spray a custom color over it, saving money. Or, if they needed to fill an order quick they would spray over some regular colors to get the guitars out the door.That's why it's become so popular to have relics with a custom color over something like white or a burst, because there are a bunch of vintage Fenders that were done that way.
