Description: The First postcard is in full color showing the '"Cappelen Memorial Bridge, Minneapolis, Minnesota" and a barge on the Mississippi River. This bridge is known to the "locals" as the Franklin Avenue or 3rd Avenue Bridge, It crosses the Mississsippi River, was built in 1923, designed by Norwegian-American Frederick Capplelen, who died during the construction of the bridge following surgery for appendicitis. The card was Published by the Co-Mo Co.,Minneapolis, Minn. It has never been mailed, a former owner has written "3rd Ave. Bridge" on the margin of the photo side of the card. The Second postcard is "Passenger Station of Great Northern Ralroad in Minneapolis, Minnesota" it is in pastel colors. The postcard has a postmark of Jan 5 1918, with a 2 cent stamp still affixed. The back is divided with a message and addressed in pencil. There is slight rubbing of one corner and a 1/8" tear at lower edge. There also are some postal lines on the photo side.This depot was completed in 1913 and demolished in 1978. The postcard was made by V. O. Hammon Pub. Co.Chicago and Minneapolis.
