About these stamps: In 1970, the US Post Office first released a series of four 6-cent Anti-Pollution stamps in San Clemente, California. Each stamp depicted the planet earth on the left. "Save Our Cities" featured a skyline and a playground. "Save Our Soil" pictured a wheat field. "Save Our Air" showed a seagull. "Save Our Water" displayed a swimming fish. A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. These stamps have been designated as Scott Number 1413a.
