Description: Vintage Catholic Religious Statues Click images to enlarge Description Rare Beautiful Vintage Antique Pair of Catholic Religious Figural Busts or Statues each measures approximately 4-1/2" in height. The two highly detailed, sturdy metal figures feature Jesus wearing a Crown of Thorns and the Blessed Virgin Mary. The statues are finished in fine gold tones. Although some minor surface wear to the mellow gold metallic finish is noted from many years of past storage, the statues are exceptionally beautiful in their distinctive vintage condition. Both antiquarian statues are marked with the initials of the maker as follows: J.B. The Original Foil Labels also remain affixed to the base of the statues, and contain the following printed information: ARTWARE OF DISTINCTION J.B. THE JENNINGS BROS. MFG. CO. The Jennings Brothers began their metalwork foundry in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1891 and remained open until the early 1950s. Jennings Brothers produced some of the most finely crafted art metal pieces that exist to this day. Their product line ranged from bookends to candlesticks to animal figurines, etc. Their methods of production required meticulous techniques which did not lend themselves to machine-directed mass production, but rather depended upon the handiwork of expert artists, sculptors and metal craftsmen. Jennings Brothers metalwork is highly prized and their distinctive "JB" mark, which marked all of their products, is highly sought after by collectors world-wide.
