Description: 1k light green "King Haakon" stamp, 1911 NORGE ~ NORWAY. Kr. 1.00 Pictured on stamp is the Prince Carl of Denmark. He was the first independent Norwegian king in 1905 after 586 years. He was called by the name "Haakon", an old Norse name traditionally used by previous kings of Norway. During WW II, he led the resistance against the Nazi invasion. He was King for 52 years, then died in 1957. The block of four 1k light green "King Haakon" stamps appeared at Kjell Germetens sale in April, 2017. It was there that a block of four sold for $5,924.
