Description: 19thC Antique English Ecclesiastical Carved Oak Putto Caryatids. Circa 1860~1880. Superb large pair of hand carved wood catayids with very fine and detailed very realistic carving with a heavy high relief design.Great decorative pieces made originally of would of been part/s of a very important piece of furniture, table or architectural elements from a very grand piece.Or even mounted either side of a doorway. Both examples differ in appearence due to been individually hand carved though are a pretty good pair.The pair display very well with a great presence.In overall very good condition with signs of ageing.Both are structually sound.The caryatids have undergone old possible restorations, but are essentially in a good state of conservation.The carvings are made of a laminated oak...hence the lines.The pair have light marking,surface wear, minor losses etc..Nothing major, but noted.All commensurate with age and use. Ready to hang. The pair measure around 25.5"/64cms tall and 5.25"/ 13.5cms acrosscat widest point withva depth of 4.5"/11.5cms. The pair weigh 5.091 kilos unwrapped.
