Description: As a promotion to its growing customer base in 1998, the innovators at Playoff Corporation challenged collectors to complete full sets of each of the three different Contenders sets: Leather, Pennant, and Ticket. Collectors could then submit their complete sets to Playoff for a redemption prize as well as a special treatment to their cards. Each "Registered Exchange" card would be stamped on back in gold foil with the number in which its set was received back by Playoff. Up for sale here are singles that are all the most desirable: Of the only 8 total sets in existence, I currently am breaking up the #1 set in the run. Each is stamped boldly on the reverse "No 1". Awesome! Exceedingly rare, limited to just 8 sets made, these cards very rarely come to market. With 4 of the 8 sets appear to have been broken, this is likely the last one you will see for many years. Fantastic find for the player collector. Cards are generally in the NM range with some wear evident. Most of the stars have been PSA graded. The set is very condition sensitive and the handling involved with submission (and an era that could not conceive of today's grading phenomenon) led nearly all the cards in the set to be in the NM range.
