Description: For sale is a gorgeous 1993 Bill of Rights Commemorative Two-Coin Silver Proof Set in the original government packaging. This set was minted and sold in 1993 to commemorate the signing of the Bill of Rights. While the collecting world calls these the "Madison Dollar & Half Dollar" it technically is called the "Bill of Rights" coins. The very unique thing about this set is the Half Dollar is actually 90% silver. That is very unusual because just about all the modern commemorative Half Dollars are Clad, not silver, making this coin very unique and special. The Dollar depicts James Madison on the obverse and features Montpelier, the Virginia home of James & Dolly Madison on the reverse. The Half Dollar shows Madison signing the Bill of Rights and the reverse shows the iconic torch of Liberty as held by the Statue of Liberty. As mentioned both coins come in the original government packaging which consists of the felt presentation box and the outer box, the box sleeve, and certificate of authenticity. Both coins are 90% silver. As you can see from the pics the coins are in amazing shape. They have that beautiful mirror finish with deep cameo frosty reliefs you come to expect from high quality proof coins. There is some very slight ghost toning specks on which is normal for proof coins this old and can really only be seen under photography light. But there is no major toning or major blemishes. This is a very nice historic coin set that would appeal to coin and history collectors alike! Thanks!
