This rare “Made in Japan” Tele was produced at the Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan production; the Order Made program was a sort of Japanese custom shop, offering non-catalog finish and component options. This particular Telecaster is a particularly stellar example of the breadth of features available on Order Made instruments, with a rare gloss Transparent Black finish, gold hardware throughout, '52-spec plastics, and a pair of Fender's American Vintage single coil pickups. Tonewoods include an ash body and a one-piece maple neck, and this Tele weighs 8lbs 12oz. The American Vintage '52 Telecaster single coils feature cloth-covered leads and flush-mount, unbeveled pole pieces (bridge), delivering a bevy of quintessential Tele tonalities with chewy twang in the bridge position and girthy chop at the neck.
