Presentation note: “Coaster from the Dove Coffee House, Hammersmith, 1987 - a keepsake for the joint meeting of the Roxburghe and Zamorano Clubs, 1988” [Presented by] Gale Herrick and Dorothy Whitnah" The Zamorano Club is Southern California’s oldest organization of bibliophiles and manuscript collectors founded in 1928. The Roxburghe Club was formed in San Francisco on April 3, 1928 and was named in honor of the original Roxburghe Club of England. The purpose of both clubs is to further the love of fine printing, and books in general. Both clubs meet in joint biennial meetings and, over the years, hundreds of announcements, keepsakes, and other letterpress items which have been sponsored by members, such as typographic souvenirs and gifts have been passed out during the meeting for the enjoyment of the membership.
