THE 1982 TOPPS BLACKLESS, are the most Rare “error” cards in Topps History. are a True variation of 1982 Topps Regular Set and are denominated Blackless because they don’t have fascimile signatures and are without black border around the player picture. You will notice very few, less than 10, of each of the most popular HOF and star players printed. The blackless cards were not an intentional variation printed by Topps. They were a mistake, printed and distributed along with the regularly issued, normal cards. Quality control at Topps discovered the black ink supply ran out after only a few cases of A, B, and C sheet cards had already been printed and packaged. It would’ve been too costly and a loss of valuable time to pull the packages. There was no way Topps could tell how many cards were printed. The black ink cartridges were refilled and they continued printing normal cards.
