Turtles, too, like the rays the sun's been shelling out lately. At Lake Seminole Park Wednesday, motorist Harry Botts was rounding a bend near the boat ramp area when he spotted a large, soft-shelled turtle in the road (right). Afraid that it would be injured, he stopped to gently nudge the turtle back toward the lake. He also decided to get a picture (left) because it was so large (he guessed its weight at 35 pounds) and so photogenic (below). This peacock (above) finds Seminole City Park a lovely place to stroll--and show off some brilliant plumage. Being one of the prettiest birds around can be quite a feather in one's cap, and the sun enhances this peacock's distinctive irridescence. This bird (below), however, is more than a pretty face. It likes life on the wing--and spiced with danger. Why else would it amble past a sunning alligator? Luckily for the bird, the gator, at Taylor Park in Largo, was seeking warmth, not a carry-out dinner, when it crawled up on the banks. Photo measures 10 x 7.5 inches. Photo Is dated 1981.
