Description: 1979 Press Photo Men Sit in Car with "Go Home Iranians" at Protest, Houston This is an original press photo. Demonstrations - Houston - Pro American Demonstration in downtown Houston last week drew about 1200 each time, with some marchers and onlookers chanting "Iranians go home" as they marched outside the Dresser Tower at Smith and Jefferson which houses the Iranian Consulate. Demonstrators waved American flags and burned Iranian flags in protest of the Americans being held hostage at the United States embassy in Tehran. A wide range of people including businessmen, carpenters and secretaries participated in the protest. Some carried signs, and a few decked their cars with messages for Iranians. Several oil company employees who work in Dresser Tower clapped in cadence with the chanting of the demonstrators. Traffic was snarled as drivers slowed to watch. Many abandoned their cars to join in while others honked their horns and waved fists in agreement. Typical of the comments by demonstrators was one by an electronics firm employee who said, "The United States has been letting other countries take advantage of us and I'm sick of it."
