Description: This is a beautiful first year PE-1000, called the masterpiece from the coveted prototype series. This guitar was meant to showcase the best craftsmanship Japanese luthiers had to offer. Built by master craftsmen in the famed Matsumoku plant, this guitar truly is a masterpiece. The one piece arched maple body is handcarved. Fine grained rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets. Chrome hardware featuring the famous Super-matic Bridge and MG-55C machine heads. The beautifully crafted control knobs are machined from solid metal and nickel plated. Recessed into the body, they control volume and tone along with a 3-way toggle switch. This example is in excellent condition as well as is the original CE1001 fitted hardshell case which is loaded with case candy including the case keys, original toolkit, luggage tag and warranty registration card. A previous custodian has traded the original Proto-Matic-1 pickups for a set of hand wound Bill Lawrence units. My original plan was to replace them with originals, but they sound superb and the work was done impeccably.
