The five-dollar coin bears a handsome sculpture of the colourful Keel-Billed Toucan - a bird whose elongated beak is a rainbow of five different colours. It is one of the noisiest inhabitants of the lush forests of Belize, its cry carrying for half a mile or more. The Scarlet Macaw, appearing on the one-dollar piece, is a memorable sight with its gaudy plumage and long, graceful tail.
