Description: The buyer will receive a 1973 Canada silver dollar. (Its obverse depicts Elizabeth II, with the inscription “D G Regina”; its reverse depicts an officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, with the inscription “Canada Dollar / 1873 - 1973.” See the second and third photos for more details.) This coin is set in a felt and plastic holder bearing the initials RCMP (for “Royal Canadian Mounted Police”) and GRC (for “Gendarmerie royale du Canada”), as well as the dates 1873 and 1973 (see the second and third photos). This holder sits within a leather or faux-leather display case (see the fourth photo), which in turn slides into a cardboard sleeve (see the fifth photo). The Canadian mint did not hermetically seal this coin within its display case, so it has toned (fortunately, in an aesthetically pleasing fashion). (See the second photo for representative toning on its obverse, and see the third photo for representative toning on its reverse.) Still, it is in extremely fine condition, approximating proof or uncirculated condition. Note: The composition of this coin is 50% silver. As a result, it simultaneously falls into two different asset classes: commodities (as silver bullion) and collectibles (owing to its rarity and historical significance). Both are excellent hedges against inflation and other types of economic instability.
