Designed to house 1,250 students, the school will be located at 3600 Simpson Place. Estimated to cost $1.9 million, the school should be completed by June 1973. The new school will replace an old and much smaller Rosenwald Elementary School in lower Algiers and the old McDonogh No. 45 Elementary School which was condemned and torn down because of structural deficiencies.
