This map opens to a generous 34" x 25" and shows expressways, toll roads, highway interchanges, paved and unpaved roads, designated scenic routes, covered bridges, lighthouses, and ski areas. On the reverse side there are inset plans of Rumford-Mexico, Bangor-Brewer, Auburn-Lewiston, Waterville-Winslow, Biddeford-Saco, Augusta, Kittery, and Portland. The map was published by the Maine State Highway Commission in 1972 and is dated on the cover. The cover photos show the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec and the State Museum-Archives-Library Building in Augusta.
