Description: Up for listing is a letter from Selwyn Lloyd, Speaker of the British House of Commons (1971 - 1976). The letter was typed on a 8" x 6" letterhead sheet from the House of Commons, dated on 10/27/1972, and personally signed in blue ink by Selwyn Lloyd. It was housed in an envelope designed for the House of Commons, and addressed to Mrs. V.M. Glover. The letter was typewritten in regard to a ticket reservation for an upcoming procession, during which Selwyn Lloyd would appear and speak. John Selwyn Brooke Selwyn-Lloyd, Baron Selwyn-Lloyd, (1904 – 978) was a British politician who served as Speaker of the House of Commons from 1971 to 1976, having previously held various ministerial positions under Prime Ministers Winston Churchill, Anthony Eden, Harold Macmillan and Alec Douglas-Home between 1954 and 1964. A member of the Conservative Party, Lloyd served as Foreign Secretary from 1955 to 1960, and as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1960 to 1962.
