Description: At the University of Michigan, Johnson set eight Big Ten rushing records and was named the conference's Player of the Year in 1968 rushing for 1,391 yards and 19 touchdowns in 10 games. That year he set the NCAA single game rushing mark of 347 yards against Wisconsin, still Michigan's all time record. He was drafted by Cleveland in the first round in 1970 and was dealt to the Giants the following season in the Homer Jones trade. In 1970 he became the first Giants player to run for 1,000 yards in a season and accomplished the feat again in 1972.
