Description: This is one of the rarest and most coveted Soviet hockey cards -- the 1971-72 Russian National Team Postcard of legendary coach Anatoli Tarasov. Considered the "father of Russian ice hockey," Taraosov was one of the first Russians to be admitted into the Hockey Hall of Fame (as a builder). He was also inducted into the inaugural class of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Tarasov was coach or co-coach of CSKA Moscow from 1946 to 1975. He was the coach of the Soviet National Team from 1958 to 1960, and then assistant coach from 1963 till 1972. He won 19 Soviet titles and led the Soviet National Team to nine straight world championships. He also coached the team to Olympic gold medals in 1964, 1968, and 1972. This 50-year-old postcard is one of his earliest cards and is graded PSA-3 VERY GOOD. It is the ONLY one of these postcards that PSA has graded. As you can see, it is in excellent shape, with a clear surface, good centering, and nice corners. The back of the card has text written in Russian Cyrillic script. For any fans of Russian hockey and history, this is a rare chance to pick up this card in this condition, because it's nearly impossible to find even in poor condition. Please let me know if you have any questions, and see my other auctions for Tarasov's 1969-70 rookie card and Vladislav Tretiak's 1973 and 1974 Russian National Team Postcards.
