Description: This stunningly beautiful European pitcher and glasses set was mold-blown (i.e. mouth-blown into a mold for the sake of consistency of size and form) and hand-etched in the 1970s. There are no markings on the pitcher, other than the remnants of the sticker from the store where it was originally purchased. The price on the sticker is in Deutsche marks indicating that it was purchased in Germany. It is very likely, however, that the set was made in Poland for the European market, as Poland was known for its hand-etched glass. The glass itself is a beautiful, rich shade of amber, sometimes known as "cherry amber." The pitcher measures slightly more than 8 1/2" in length and is about 5 3/4" in width including the hand-applied handle. It holds 1 liter of liquid (slightly more than 32 oz.) when filled to about 1/2" below the spout. Its slender form with a wider beveled base gives it an elegant and timeless look that will go with almost any decor from traditional to contemporary. There are 6 glasses that go with the set. They measure about 3 5/8" tall and are 2 1/2" across the diameter of the rim, and have about 6 oz capacity when filled to about 1/2" below the rim. On both the pitcher and the glasses there is a hand-etched simple floral design. This is a truly gorgeous set in absolutely perfect condition with no cracks or chips to be found anywhere on any of the pieces. It is a set that you will want to keep out on display! Will be carefully wrapped and packed for safe shipment.
