The first design change to the coin occurred in 1959, when the wheat foliage image on the reverse was retired and replaced with the façade of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. This 1970 dated coin represents one of two varieties issued by the San Francisco Mint, which differ only in the size of the date. This Lincoln Cent was struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1970. The coin is authenticated as the large date variety. The coin measures 19 mm in diameter. The coin is crafted from a metallic composition containing 95% copper and 5% zinc. The one cent face value coin is legal tender of the United States. The coin is part of a 693,192,814 piece final reported mintage.
