Description: "GLEN ECHO AMUSEMENT PARK PRIZE DAY" ORIGINAL ADVERTISING SIGN – circa 1965. 25.5" x 16". Two-color litho on cardboard. This is a scarce advertising sign promoting "WMAL's Milt Q. Ford Prize Day" on Sat., July 24th at Glen Echo Amusement Park. Mr. Ford was a well-known radio disc jockey & TV personality in the Washington, D.C. area. He is illustrated with his ever-present pet parrot. Glen Echo Amusement Park was a popular Maryland/ Washington, D.C. area hot spot that operated until 1968. This signage also features a large DRUG FAIR drug store logo on the lower right corner area (free tickets were available there). NOTE: Glen Echo displays of this nature are quite rare. Outstanding bold imagery with great eye appeal. Condition of considered FAIR with miscellaneous surface/stain/edge wear. Moderate surface/edge creasing with scattered puncture holes (no image loss), mainly in date area (one around Mr. Ford's mouth). Lower right corner chip with one central vertical fold. Several small edge tears, largest being approx. 1/2". That being said, we feel colors & graphics are still bold, bright and attractive. Overall, despite obvious defects, we feel this scarce sign is still in very displayable condition by most standards (see photos).
