Description: A pair of original vintage framed oil paintings by James Pinto. Both pieces are signed and dated 1964. The paintings are likely landscapes at night, but they are rendered in an abstract expressionist style. They're a wonderful mix of moody blue hues. Artist Bio: James Pinto (1907-1987) was born in Yugoslavia where he was encouraged to study art. In 1939, his artistic education and work continued in the USA, where he worked at Disney Studios in Hollywood and studied at Chouinard. He then studied mural painting under David Alfaro Siqueiros and taught at Escuela de Bellas Artes in San Miguel, Mexico. Later he co-founded and taught at Instituto Allende, where he was head of the art department from 1961-1969 during which time these paintings were produced. Later he became dean of the school from 1969-1979. There are several notable murals in San Miguel painted by Pinto.
