Description: Note: Please study the images carefully to determine the condition of this vintage photograph, as it may not be in perfect condition. It may contain wrinkles, cracks, and possibly even tears due to its age and how it was handled before it got to us. A scanner may interpret colors and contrast differently than human eyes will, so it is possible that the actual photograph may be slightly darker or lighter in person. This vintage photograph is offered for sale as a collectible item and conveys no transfer of copyright. 1960 Press Photo Picture of the Past - Watering trough at Howard and Dryades This is an original press photo. Picture of the Past - With the compliments of the city and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, a New Orleans resident slakes his thirst along with the horses and mules on a hot day near the turn of the century. The trough, or one identical to it, stands today on the neutral ground at the intersection of Howard and Dryades (lower photo). Its lion-head spouts are missing; probably many a passerby thinks it a big bird bath. According to John E. Morrill, secretary of the New Orleans sewerage and water board, there were about 40 of 50 watering troughs scattered throughout the city in the days before the horseless carriage. Photo measures 10 x 8.5 inches. Photo is dated 09-11-1960. PHOTO FRONT PHOTO BACK Historic Images Part Number: noc72607 Sell Smarter with Kyozou.Inventory and Ecommerce Management
